Artistic Etchings with the Colour Coach

Have you seen our new Colour Coach?? It is AWESOME! I love to have resources that help me use different colour combinations other than the ones I tend to use all the time.

I had my SparkleDaisy stamptogether this week and we always swap card ideas with each other. I love the stamp set Artistic Etchings and for my swap card, I picked a main colour I hadn't used before – Blushing Bride. Then using the Colour Coach I paired it with Sahara Sand and a little bit of Early Espresso (which is a Must Have Colour!).
For the circular image that is popped up, I stamped it with Blushing Bride and then used my Regal Rose Marker to add extra colour to the outside edges of the rubber BEFORE I stamped it on the paper. I used my 1 3/4" circle punch to punch it out and popped it up with a dimensional. I also added a 1/2 pearl (which we can now buy separately and with adhesive on the back!!) Notice the vertical strip of Sahara Sand cardstock – I used the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. An easy and inexpensive way to add colour to your cards

So what do you think? I loved the results and loved that I used different colours

- Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (119275)
- Artistic Etchings (120573)
- Basic Pearls (119247)
- 1 3/4" Circle punch (119850)

Uncharted Territory with Polished Stone

This new stamp set Uncharted Territory is one of my favourites and I thought it would be perfect to use with the polished stone technique. That technique falls into the oldie-but-goodie catategory! You may have seen how it is done, but in case you haven't, I did a video for you to see. My final product is shown above. I really liked the simple design of this card. I kept trying to add things to the background, but I finally realized I liked it simple. The Polished Stone technique is done on glossy cardstock and uses rubbing alcohol and reinkers. I used Tempting Turquoise and Bashful Blue reinkers, the turquoise brads and basic black grosgrain ribbon. LOVE IT! Hope you do too.
Katie’s Big Shot Bag

Yesterday Katie was with me in my stamp room and was looking for a project. So she decided to make herself a Big Shot Bag using the Square Scallop Bigz Die and extra fabric we had here. She did this ALL by herself without help from me at all (well I helped her thread the bobbin, but that's it!) I was so impressed with her determination and thought you might like to see her creation. The Big Shot is great with Fabric and if you haven't already heard, our holiday mini has exclusive Stampin' Up! fabric in it!!! So even more possibiltites, even for those of us who prefer not to sew (myself included).

The first thing Katie did was to put the fabric through the Big Shot ( I think she put 4 layers through at a time) and then she lined up the squares in the pattern she wanted.

She cut out 31/2" squares of the quilting batting and layered them in between the scallop squares.

She sewed the two squares with the batting in between on the diagonal and then cut them apart. BTW: My mom has taught Katie to sew… I take no credit lol.

…and then sewed them on the other diagonal so that the batting will stay put. (You'll have to excuse me, I'm NOT a sewer or quilter, so if I'm using the wrong terminology, you'll have to excuse me.

Once all the squares were done, she sewed them together and added a strap. Cute hey?

Check out the Chicnscratch Blog to see Angie's videos. She has specific directions if you'd like to try this yourself!

Anniversary Artistic Etchings

My dh and I celebrated 16 years of wedded bliss last week and this is the card my Mom sent to us. She got this idea from her friend Cheryl and I am so glad to have this card! It uses the new stamp set Artistic Etchings (page 125 in the IBC) and the designer paper – Newsprint. The tag was made using the Two Tags Bigshot die and she also used the Sanded background stamp. What really pulls all this together is the sponging Mom did around the edges. I just love this card! Thanks to Mom and to Cheryl!
Sweet Scoops Ice Cream Parlour

As you are enjoying your summer I hope you are taking time to treat yourself! Ice cream is a tasty part of summer and this card using Sweet Scoops stamp set from the Summer Mini is so appropriate for any summer event! My friend Meliissa S showed us this card at one of our SparkleDaisy gettogethers (you could join us for these events – just join my team of stampers!). I loved it so much we did this with my July stampers groups and I also gave one to my friend Andree for her birthday last weekend. So I have fully enjoyed this card and hope you do too. The strips are made with the word window punch and we used the scallop edge punch for the trim. Easy Peasy and oh so fun.
Have a sweet day!
