Spiral Pop-up Card from Convention

This summer I was invited to present at the Stampin’ Up! Convention.  There were nearly 6000 crazed stampers in attendance and I was honoured to stamp in front of them.  One of the favourite projects I showed was the spiral card.  It’s funny to see how much it has taken off and how many people have posted their own spiral creations on their blogs!  I saw today that Splitcoast even has a tutorial of this card now!!!  I’ll post photos of my convention samples at the bottom of this post, but for now I’ll show you the Spiral Pop Up card I did with  my stampers groups this month so you can do them too!

Punch a circle using the 1 ¾” circle punch.

Use your scissors and cut your circle into a spiral . We’re only using one spiral on this project, but you could do two or three if you like. It’s nice if your spirals match the inside of your card – that way the spirals don’t stand out, your embellishments do!

Using the Tombow Multipurpose glue to attach one end (tail) of the spiral to the back half of the card.

Add some glue to the other end of the spiral (centre) and hold it down with your finger and fold the card over to adhere the spiral to the top half of the card. The reason you fold the card over to adhere the spiral is so your spiral collapses nicely when you fold the card. Make sense??

Once your spiral is adhered to both sides of your card you can add your embellishments. In this case you’re going to stamp 5 small snowflakes using Baja Breeze classic ink on Whisper White cardstock. You punch them out using the Snow Blossom Punch.  (see below for more ideas for this technique!) Thanks to Paula & Fran for showing me this!!

Here are the samples I showed at Convention this summer!  Have fun making your own Spiral Pop-Up cards!!

Just wanted to tell you that I was one of those 6000 women who went crazy when you showed us these cards at convention! It was one of the best wows I saw there and it was well worth it. I showed the bug card at my last show and everyone went was like WOW and I said now multiply that by 6000 crazy women! THanks for sharing your creativity with us. I hope to post a few of these on my blog in a couple of day.

I know, those cards are everywhere! Crazy, right? It was a great project you showed, so I’m not surprised people loved it so much. I still think that beer mug card is the cutest card I’ve ever seen! I like the snowflake version you did with your group. I really should show that technique at my next Club meeting, too!

I loved those cards at Convention and am delighted to find your blog. I will be jumping on the bandwagon and making one for my club this month. “Love what we do and share what we love” – well done!
